A cute story

My husband and I have a nightly routine where we share all the things we’re grateful for from our day with each other, and now that our daughter is two, she’s starting to understand the ritual and join in. This weekend we stayed at a friend’s cabin in Lake Granby and as I was tucking Lennon in, she shared her gratitude list with me.

Daddy & Momma. Bubba & Lulu (our dogs). Turtle & Pema (our cats). Lake. Happy. Rocks. Trees. Book. Minnie Mouse Pancake. Gigi & Grumpy (my parents). Glaux & GrampaT (my in-laws). Outside. Cabin. Family. Rocks. (she’s really into rocks).

I share this, not only because it’s incredibly adorable, but also because so much of what matters to my daughter, and to most of us, is the people we love and the community we’re a part of.

As the next State Representative for HD 30, you can count on me to continue the work I’ve been doing for a decade:

  • Fighting to create a healthcare system that actually makes people and communities healthier,

  • Funding our education system at the level our children deserve and paying our teachers as the professionals they are,

  • Working to ensure women have a right to abortions and can choose what to do with their own bodies,

  • Doing everything in my power to combat climate change,

  • Protecting our communities, and kids like Lennon, from America’s gun violence epidemic,

  • Resourcing our communities so our parents, grandparents and neighbors can age with dignity,

  • And fighting to dismantle systems of oppression and rebuild them with equity in the center.

I hope that in the same way we’re teaching Lennon to live in gratitude, to revel in the beauty of the present moment, and to find joy in everything she possibly can, we’re able to imbue that energy into our politics. And to do that, we all need to be dreaming it together. So please walk shoulder to shoulder with me so that together we can give all of our kids a Colorado, and an America, worth inheriting.
